Like a Brillo Pad for hot lead (or lead free). Thousands of thin curly brass ribbons scrub the baked-on flux left behind on your soldering tip. At iFixit we prefer using this soft brass wool over a wet sponge. Water will thermally shock the soldering tip, shortening its useful life. Case is metal with foam pad feet.
